Kouign Bakery FAQs
-
Why is Kouign Bakery only open three days a week?
Kouign is a small batch bakery, and that means we bake with care, not mass production. Limiting our hours to three days a week lets us focus on making every croissant, scone, cookie, and pie fresh and intentional.
-
Do you cater events or do custom orders?
Yes! We love being part of weddings, showers, celebrations, and gatherings. We make pastries, pies, cookies, and a limited number of cakes for special occasions. Since we’re a small batch bakery, please contact us and order ahead so we can plan your bake into the week.
-
Do you have any vegan options?
We often offer vegan pastries and treats. That said, Kouign is not a fully vegan bakery, most of our baking relies on butter, eggs, and cream. If you’re vegan, check our weekly menu or message us before visiting so you don’t miss out on something you could enjoy.
-
Does Kouign have gluten-free options?
Most of the time, yes! We regularly bake gluten-free pastries and desserts, though our kitchen is not a certified gluten-free facility. We do our very best to keep gluten-free items separate, but there’s always a chance of cross-contamination.
If you have a severe gluten allergy, your safety matters most, please let us know, and we’ll gladly let you know what’s available and how it’s prepared.

How is Kouign Bakery involved in the community?
Kouign isn’t just a bakery, it’s part of Wallingford. Chelsea, our owner and head baker, was raised here and went to school right in town. She loves giving back, whether it’s through community outreach with local high school students, joining town events, or setting up donation boxes in the shop to support causes close to home. If there’s a way to sprinkle a little sweetness into the community, she’s always happy to be involved.
-
What if I’m not happy with my order?
Please come directly to me. I value your feedback and always want to make it right. Kouign is as much about community as it is about baking, if something falls short, I’d rather hear it from you so I can fix it.
-
Why is Kouign Bakery transparent about pricing?
Because honesty matters. We use high-quality ingredients and bake everything from scratch, in small batches. Our pricing reflects the care of our team and craft behind every pastry, pie, cookie, or cake we make. Transparency builds trust, and we think you deserve that.
-
Does Kouign Bakery sell wholesale?
Yes, we partner with a few local cafés and farms in Connecticut that serve Kouign pastries, cookies, and treats. If you’d like to carry our bakes, reach out! We’re also happy to share a list of where you can already find Kouign nearby.
-
Can I order Kouign on DoorDash or other third-part delivery services?
No, unfortunately delivery services don’t share Kouign standards, and we never want to compromise on quality. The best way to enjoy Kouign is to visit us in person in Wallingford, CT, where everything is fresh and made from scratch.
